Several of the features in Cpanel can also be set by editing the .htaccess file in a folder. There is are excellent tutorials at http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess.shtml and at http://www.hostingmanual.net/other/htfun.shtml You can also override some of the settings in php.ini by using settings in a .htaccess file.
